Thank you to the parents who came to Wimbledon Parents Association (WPA) AGM last night.  I delighted to inform you that the following parents will be on the committee.

Charlotte White - Chair, Sophie Christovassili - Vice chair

Wajeeha Iqbal - Secretary, Marcia Graham - Treasurer

Danielle Brown, Sian Williams, Monika Kissova, Anthea Cousins

Jennifer Staples, Nyron Grant

We have three more spaces on the committee for Year 9 or 10 parents.  If you would like to be involved in organising events for parents and students, please let Mrs Kirby know and she can put you in touch with Charlotte.

As ever, the week has flown by.  Nadia and Micah (Head Girl and Boy) attended a Young People’s Black Lives Matter Equality Forum.   It was coordinated by Merton LA and all schools were invited to send two representatives.  Miss Nyatedzu attended with the students and she said ‘Nadia and Micah represented HAWI remarkably well not only in their appearance but in their knowledge of race and equality’.

We plan to take some of the ideas that were developed and introduce them across the academy.

There was fierce competition in the lower school house football competition.  It was great to see over 60 students getting involved.  Congratulations to Gibson who won after a tense penalty shoot out with Morris.  I am delighted with Year 9s approach to the Duke of Edinburgh award; they are all busily securing their volunteering option so they are ready to begin in January.  It is a great opportunity to live up to our motto of ‘Make a Difference’.  I am very proud of how they are all willing to give up some of their own time to help others.

Thank you for your continued support of the academy; it is very much appreciated.

Mrs Larizadeh
